I'm so glad you are here! Welcome to The Sasse Life where I'm sharing all my DIY projects. Let's start off with my son's room. Cooper's room has been a work in progress that has been taking longer than we planned. Oh well, slowly but surely. This was his room shortly after we moved in.
The dresser you see in the picture on the left was our steal. When we were living in San Diego and we had a roommate move in with us. Our roommate didn't have any furniture beside a bed. Then it all happened. One day when we came home right next to the dumpster at our apartment complex was a dresser and a tv stand. So we quickly snatched the dresser and it was perfect for his room (did I mention it was SOLID wood) The thing weighed a ton. We couldn't believe that someone was throwing it away. When we moved from San Diego, my husband and I took it with us.

As you can see the dresser was a little sore on the eyes with it's outdated
personality. So we decided to fix it up a little bit!
TAA DAA! Cooper's "new" dresser/changing table :)

Budget breakdown:
Dresser - free (found at the dumpster)
Sandpaper - owned
Primer - owned
White paint - owned
Blue paint - $8
Hardware - $10
Total- $18 with some elbow grease :)

I am always tempted to take the furniture people dump by our dumpster, refinish it, and then sell it, haha. The dresser looks nice! That's a good steal for free.
p.s. i like the new blog layout with the font!
I like how you painted the dresser and Cooper is such a cutie! And thank you for your comment on my blog!!!
Love that dresser- keep up the good work!
Thank you so much everyone! It was worth all that elbow grease and work we used.
As they say, one person's trash is another's treasure. And as a true dumpster diver...I am so glad that some people throw GOOD stuff away. ;)
The changing table turned out terrific and can be used even once he's out of diapers.

Thank you! I know some people throw away items that just need some TLC. Luckily for us, this was left at a dumpster out our apartment complex. So I guess it was meant to be :)

Cool make over. Did you add something to the front (the white part) to bring it out level with the drawers?

Thanks everyone!
@ Seaweed & Raine, we didn't add anything to it. It was already like that but I think the white makes it pop more.
