I cut the tulle into 14 inch strips, then tied them around the Styrofoam wreath. I know, I know, super complicated..

I got this wood piece from Hobby Lobby for a whole 50 cents.  I nailed two soda can tabs on it so loop some ribbon through it to hold on the wreath.

DSCF0153
I painted the front of it and added some much needed glitter.

Added some Halloween stickers and attached on the wreath with ribbon.

Crayon & Notepad Organizer Tutorial

untitled (1)
The Supplies:

I have always been "eye it" type.  So I took the notepad and used that to measure my main piece of fabric.  I cut 2 pieces exactly the same.

  • I used my handy dandy notepad for measurement again for the fabric.  I cut three strips for the piece to the notepad, one to hold the crayons, and the other to use to secure with the button.
  • I made an elephant template out of paper and used that on the felt.
  • Then sew felt elephant on one first piece of fabric and attach button.

Sorry, it's blurry, but the next picture will explain that.
This is to show you all the pieces of fabric together and the placement of it before I attach the two blue pieces together.
Sometime around this point, I had another problem to deal with.

A hungry baby!
After that, I actually sewed three sides of it, and put some stuffing in the middle to make it puffy.

I even took it for a test run and it was successful.

Crayons & Notepad Organizer

This past week I have been planning my son's first birthday party. Seriously where does the time go?!
Wasn't it just yesterday this picture was taken?
1 month old

11 months old

And now you look at you.  One week shy of your first birthday.
And that means your first birthday party!
With party means party planning.
So now you know this mama has been busy doing.
I was debating on what to make for the goody bags for his friends.
So gathered some fabric I had around the house and pulled out the sewing machine.  I have seen these crayon and notepad organizers before and thought what a great idea.  Especially to keep in your purse for the boredom emergencies that come.  Maybe I should name this boredom emergency.
(Sorry, I didn't take pictures while I was making it since this was just practice)

 Then open it up:

I will make a tutorial for this on the next one I make, so stay tuned. I plan on making this for the goody bags except instead of a robot, it will be elephant.  Have to keep with the theme, silly mommy.
Any suggestions on what to put in a goody bag for a 1 year old?

I reached 100 followers! Thank you!  Don't worry I haven't forgotten about the surprise.  It's almost ready!  I know, I know, I hate surprises the suspense of a surprise.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Cabinet Makeover

Remember that cabinet I saw on Craigslist? Well.. we did end up getting it. I have just been delaying on fixing it up. But I finally got around to it! Yay!

Before:

I loved the wood too much to paint over it. It had a bunch of scratches so we needed to do something. So we decided a light sand and a stain would be the perfect fit.

After a light sand and some staining, then took scrapbook paper and spray adhesive for the backdrop. Got new knobs from Hobby Lobby and lights from Home Depot. TA DA!

Here's the new makeover:

All that awesome wood detail is still there too!

We also installed in some lights. (Sorry this photo was taken with my cell phone & you can see that we had to install the baby safety lock too)
