2011 Recap

2011 has been quite a year!  Here's a little recap of what happened for the Sasse family.

In January, we made the big move from D.C. to Dallas (not fun with a 3 month old).  Back when little man was..well, little.

In February, we attempted our first DIY furniture makeover -- Cooper's dresser/changing table.

In March, we got our first two teeth and boy, we were not happy about that.

In April, he turned 6 months old and started crawling. Oh boy, here comes trouble.

In May, he turned 7 months old -- was able to stand by himself and got his first "boo boo". He also got to go swimming for the first time.

In June, out little baby boy took his first steps at 8 months old!  He has been on the run since then.

Also, we transformed this coffee table to an ottoman.

In July, little man turned 9 months old.

August was a busy month.  "The Sasse Life" was born. For all of those who are wondering, it is pronounced "Sassy". We had less than 50 followers.  Crafty Sasse Wednesday was also born.  The husband and I also added a few more DIY projects under our belt.

In September, Cooper turned one so we celebrated with a little par-tay!

We also had our first giveaway after we reached 100 followers.

October

Husband and I celebrated three years of marriage. 
Cooper dressed as the Incredible Hulk for Halloween.

Sunday Social was also born.


In November,  Cooper got to enjoy his first Thanksgiving.

Maybe a little too much.

We also enjoyed Thanksgiving with some good friends.

In December, we got nominated for the Blog Guidebook's Top Blog 2011 and finished in 2nd place! Can you believe that?!

Cooper also got to visit Santa a couple times. 

Let's just say he isn't a very big fan of the man in red.

It has been a busy, busy year.  I can't wait to see what next year holds.

Chair Makeover

We got this little fellow at Salvation Army for $5.  Let's just say we weren't a big fan of that purplely pink fabric.

At least all of the kids were a fan of the chair or at least the ottoman..

And wanted to help.

Here is the result of my first attempt of upholstering a piece of furniture.

UPDATE:

I received a couple emails about where I got my curtains and pillow.

The curtains I made from fabric I bought at a local fabric store here in Dallas.

For the pillow aka the Frank Pillow.

Remember Frank the tank?  Well, one year I dressed like him for Halloween.

See that faux fur vest I'm wearing? Well... after it served it purpose of being my Halloween costume, it got turned into a fun little pillow. So there you have it, I made the curtains and the pillow. This is a DIY blog after all :)

Coffee Table Re-Do, Giveaway Winner & Sunday Social. Oh My!

This post is what I'm going to call a triple whammy.  A project, a giveaway winner & a blog hop.  Say what?! Remember our ottoman that we fixed up to be our coffee table?  Well, we decided he was much too tall so he got promoted to bench for our dining room table.  So that meant we needed a new coffee table.  The husband and I had a little adventure to Salvation Army where we discovered this guy.

  He was originally $20 with 75% off.  That's right, we rescued him for a whole $5.

So let's skip the boring parts of sanding, priming and painting..  let's be honest, you just want to see the before and after pictures.  So let's give the people what they want.

Side Note: We are thinking about painting our couch (Gasp, yes, I said paint).  I have seen some tutorials on it.  Just wanted to see if any of you have done it and get some feedback on it.  Some dos, don'ts or are you crazy!?
