Ottoman to Bench

There is this story about this coffee table who was being sold on Craigslist.
You might remember this little coffee table.
And how we decided to turn him into an ottoman.
Well, it was decided he didn't make a good coffee table.  He was just too tall. So we got a new coffee table.
Just around that time, our son learned how to climb on our dining room chairs so we moved them to our bedroom  (because doesn't everyone keep dining chairs in their bedroom.. right.. )
Then we had a dining room table with no chairs..
& a ottoman with no home.

Then we put the two together and it was like peanut butter and jelly.
What do you all think of benches at dining room tables?
(all pictures are from here)

What do you think?

Makes me want to reupholster my ottoman again..

I would love to have a bench at the table. When we buy a new one, I am going to look at getting a bench to go with it. Beautiful job by the way!

I would love to someday have a table with chairs on one side and a bench on the other. I've always loved how they look.

benches are great for adults, but my kids often go through a phase where they fall off the back, so we stick with the chairs:) Kids make us do the darndest things. We have 8 nice dining chairs, and even though I fabric-protected them, my two big kids still eat on our old wooden chairs so they don't permanently stain the new chairs.

DO IT!! It's sooo kid friendly (my kids fall off chairs and benches alike.. so it makes no difference for me! lol) and it'll look fabulous for sure! Good luck with it.

I have a bench at our breakfast nook table. It is one of the fav places for the teens to hangout when they are at our house!
