Simply Spray Review

I'm really excited to do this post.  I have been waiting patiently to do this. After finishing our coffee table, I had mention that I wanted to paint our couch.  Which sounds crazy, right?!  How do you even paint a couch?  What kind of paint to you use?  Well.. well.. I have some answers because guess what...

I painted my couch.

There is an awesome company called Simply Spray that sells fabric paint.  Not just fabric paint but puff paint, stencil paint, upholstery paint.. so believe me when I say there have paint for any type of fabric.

Of course, I was sold when I heard upholstery.  I had to try it! 

Here are some before pictures of our couch before.

We haven't always been so kind to this couch.  It has survived living with three Marines and a baby.  Did I mention we also have a dog too..

 But let's say the color wasn't so forgiving with any type of stains.  And believe me there were stains..

Let's get up close and personal..

Ok, let's get to the more exciting part.

We decided to try to charcoal grey.

drum roll please..

No more stains! Yay! And mostly important, it's non-toxic.  So any parents out there, no worries.

AMAZING, right!?  The pictures don't do it justice either. It took about 4 coats to get the color this dark with 14 cans of paint. Wait 72 hours after painting, then it's like you have a  brand new couch!
We are so happy with the results.  Our couch finally fits with the rest of the living room.  


My biggest worry about using this product was how was the couch going to feel after painting it.  I was amazed with the results.  The couch feels exactly the same.  
We actually had some friends that came over that thought we got a new couch.  When I told them I painted it, they didn't believe me.

 THREE silly photos.. say what?!

1. What is your favorite color TO WEAR? I seriously wear every color.  I love all colors.. except maybe brown.  It's my least favorite.

2. You are given the choice between visiting every country and landing on the moon. Which would you choose?  Visit every country.  I would LOVE that!

3. What's your favorite animal and why?  I'm going to go with a flamingo.  When I started high school, I was given the name flamingo because of my long skinny legs.  Then people started buying me flamingo things.. so.. it's my chosen favorite animal now.

4. You are forced to do one of the following, which would you choose? Sky dive, scuba dive, or this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4B36Lr0Unp4?  SKY DIVING! It's on my bucket list.

5. You are given the chance to go back in time. Which era would you visit?  This is a really hard one.  There are so many.  I would want to be able to go and meet Jesus then first forward me to like the 1920s or the 1950s please.
 

6. If you had the power to remove one thing (ie: flies, mosquitos, junk food) from the earth for good- what would it be?
Sadness.. no one should ever have to be sad.  So SMILE!
 

7. What is one thing you've learned from Pinterest that made you think "GENIUS"!
Seriously.. this questions is way to hear to narrow down.  The majority of things I see on Pinterest.. I think BRILLIANT!  now why didn't I think of that!

Ottoman to Bench

There is this story about this coffee table who was being sold on Craigslist.

You might remember this little coffee table.

And how we decided to turn him into an ottoman.

 Well, it was decided he didn't make a good coffee table.  He was just too tall. So we got a new coffee table.

 Just around that time, our son learned how to climb on our dining room chairs so we moved them to our bedroom  (because doesn't everyone keep dining chairs in their bedroom.. right.. )

Then we had a dining room table with no chairs..

& a ottoman with no home.

Then we put the two together and it was like peanut butter and jelly.

What do you all think of benches at dining room tables?

Out of the Darkness

On February 28th, I let you all in on my secret project.

3) I spent a year living in Africa (Southern Sudan) and in that year I white water rafted part of the Nile River. Scary and FUN!


4) Speaking of Africa...I went on safari during an R&R time and one night woke to find a baby hippopotamaus standing by my tent opening, literally touching distance from me! And, I would have touched him if I didn't know how deadly momma hippopotamouses could be!! Yikes!


5) I enjoy going to weekly playgroup probably more than my daughter! The time I get to spend talking to other moms makes me feel refreshed...and, normal!

Seven Questions with the lovely Gentri Lee.

1. Pick a boyfriend: Edward Cullen, Peeta Mellark, or Harry Potter

Well.. I didn't know Peeta Mellark was until I googled it.  The Hunger Games are on my list to read.   I am not a Harry Potter fan.  So I will go with Edward Cullen then I would go Team Jacob. Can I do that?  But just in case my husband reads this.. totally go Team Garrett.

2. If you HAD to have a crazy hairdo, what hairdo would you choose and why? (mohawk, mullet, etc)

Honestly, I'm a little jealous of Gentri Lee's bird nest hairdo she choose.  I would say a colorful mohawk.

3. If you could be a celebrity what would you like to be celebrated for? (Dance, Singing, Acting, Reality TV [ie no reason], Political Leader, etc)

Being a singer would be pretty cool since you know I can't sing.  SO I choose an actress.

4. Be honest- do you brush and floss your teeth daily?

Yes I do!

5. What is one fear you are working to overcome?

Red lipstick.  I'm slowly overcoming my fear because I want to be best friends with it.

6. White Chocolate, Milk Chocolate, Dark Chocolate, or Semi-Sweet (isn't that just dark chocolate)??

All of it except white chocolate.  It's not even chocolate..

7. What is one trend you wish you could pull off? 

Headbands.. maybe one day I will be able to pull it off.
