My name is Sophie.  I was born and raised in Belgium (oui, je parle le français) and moved to the USA with my husband and our three daughters in 2000. 

We decided to plant our tent in Colorado because we love the mountains so much. 

I love the outdoors and to ride my bike in the beautiful Colorado countryside.

 When did you start Bagatelle Designs?

I have always been attracted by colors even before starting making jewelry. I would always find a room to paint in our house or a piece of furniture to decorate in vivid colors.  What started as a relaxing hobby at the beginning developed into a full-blown passion for beads and jewelry. I particularly love Swarovski crystals because of their inner beauty and sparkle. Swarovski crystals have a magical and sparkly quality to them that reflects the beauty of the natural world surrounding us. They can be found in many of my designs. I have now been making jewelry for many years.  I started selling my creations through house parties and local craft fairs.  I recently moved my business online on etsy. 

 

 What is one of your favorite pieces from your shop?

My favorites must be the large hoop earrings made of pink tourmaline, ametrine, and swarovski crystal beads.
I used unique natural gemstones for these big hoops earrings: transluscent soft yellow and soft lilac ametrine faceted teardrops with genuine swarovski crystal beads and delicious cherry pink tourmaline rondelles.
The combination of colors is magnificent!

What/who inspires you?

I am mostly inspired by colors in nature and feelings.  My jewelry is fun to wear and joyful : the abundance of colors is meant to reflect and bring out all the good feelings in your heart.

The combinations are endless and my style is definitely modern.

 What is your favorite ice cream flavor?

My favorite ice cream flavor would be raspberry!

Entertainment Center Makeover

A long, long time ago, my husband and I purchased this entertainment center from Ikea.

(sorry for the picture quality.  I had the hardest time finding a picture of it when it was used..well.. as an entertainment center)

Then as the little one grew, we started noticing little sticky finger prints on the TV.  We have moved since that picture and now our TV is above our fireplace.  Far away from sticky little fingers.

So the entertainment center got promoted (or demoted if you want to look at it that way) to Cooper's storage for toys.  An unorganized disaster.

It was time for a makeover.

After a little sanding, priming, painting & sealing. All thanks to my wonderful husband!

 After passing Cooper's inspection, I was able to move onto the next step.

Then I added the cushion using foam, fabric and my handy dandy staple gun.

Then another inspection to test out the cushion and the chalkboard paint.  Luckily, we passed with flying colors.

We still had one more inspection.  The magnetic board.

I think our client was pretty happy with his new corner.

Raising Bean

  Hi! I'm Mar, I used to be a veterinary technician, but now I'm a
full time stay at home mommy. My blog is all about my life, and raising

1. I write left handed, but do everything else right handed
2. The bed has to be made before I can get into it. But I'm too lazy to make it every morning so I usually make it right before I go to sleep.
3. I desperately want to own a dairy cow.
4. Putting on my mascara with my mouth closed is impossible.
5. I rewrote the chorus to Lady Gaga's "Edge Of Glory" to "the poops on the edge of the diaper.." and I sing it to my little bean every time I clean up a #2.
