The north-south love affair of Metro Manila has always been a fickle thing. Folks from the north rarely want to go south and vice versa. There really seems to be a clear notion of a “divide” in the metro. Live north or live south, that seems to be the popular idea. Now, living in the north does have its merits. But for the sake of this article, let’s make a case for living in the south.

Here are three good reasons to buy your first or next property south of the metro:

Business Districts

The south is such a great place of residence for professionals who want to focus on their careers. With its close proximity to the central business district of Makati, Bonifacio Global City, and Alabang, you have easy access to your workplace whatever the schedule you have. If you need to go out of town or out of the country for a business trip, you’re one Uber or taxi away from the airport.

Leisure

There’s a lot to say about leisure when it comes to life in the south. Want to hang out at a mall? There are several to choose from in Makati, Taguig, and other nearby areas. If you prefer to live in Cavite and you don’t want to go far, you can always head to a local strip mall in Lancaster New City. For your odd food cravings, head over to Parañaque and surely you won’t run out of restaurant options there.

If you’re feeling a bit outdoorsy and earth-loving, Drive to Tagaytay or even head further down south to Batangas or Laguna. There’s just no way you won’t have fun in this part of the Philippines.

Traffic

You probably have that one friend who would complain about the south’s heavy, unbearable traffic. Nine times out of ten, that friend exaggerates. The South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) may get congested at times, but one can’t deny how convenient it is most of the time. There are also other road developments that will benefit those who live in the south in the future, such as the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX), Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX), and the SLEX-Daang Hari Road.

Life in the south is not as bad as many might frame it. Give it a shot; you’d be making a good decision for sure.
